I made a big decision today, and I'm inviting all who are interested in making a similar decision for yourselves, to join me.
I'm changing the channel.
I'm not a fan of the reality show that's now in its 10th season. I'm not inspired by its stars. And so I am rolling up my sleeves and doing the hard work to go against the grain and change the channel.
As I told folks on social media today, I've always been a listener.
And for the last 10 years I have been listening harder than I ever have in my life.
Because I am also a lover of people.
And as the tide started turning more and more towards division, I was getting worried on behalf of my people (which, for those that don’t know me, includes just about everyone, as long as they possess kindness in their heart).
And so my response to the ever increasing division in the world, was to listen even harder.
I thought if I could just hear where everyone was coming from, with an open heart and an open mind, I could help people understand one another. I could be a unifying force.
Needless to say, that didn’t work out well for me.
All it did was make my heart hurt for my people, which, as I mentioned before, stubbornly includes just about everyone (as long as they possess kindness in their heart.)
Radical! I know!
So I’m done listening.
Or maybe it would be more accurate to say, I’ve given myself full permission to go on a listening sabbatical.
I’ve earned it.
And with my new found free time, I am going to start doing a lot more talking.
In fact, I’m going to be teaming up with my friend Kelly Carlin and Humans on The Verge to help others (of a soulful-and-kind sort) to find their true self and start doing more of the “talking” too.
If you’re interested in knowing more about what we're going to be up to, and/or want to get involved yourself, then it’ll be best to subscribe to this blog and/or reach out to me to find out how to join my community. (Because I won’t be on social media much anymore, except for business).
But before you reach out, I’ll give you fair warning...
While my heart will remain open to all, always, unconditionally…
My community will only be for those who are serious and excited about teaming up with me to change the channel on this world conversation.
Those who genuinely want to help create a brand new conversation.
Those who possess the soul courage to do the work.
The heart courage to be a safe space for all kinds of people.
The true grit to be willing to go through whatever it takes (mentally, emotionally and spiritually) to become their best self.
And the creative courage to go that extra mile and write (and create art) about it.
If that’s not your jam. Don’t even sweat it.
As Kelly once said to me “you’re not for everybody, Holly. But those you’re for, you’re like a life raft in the middle of a raging ocean.”
So, truly. If you’re still reading this, do not feel obliged to subscribe. And don't feel guilty if you want to unsubscribe. (I have no interest in sending emails to those who don't want to receive them.)
But if you’re still reading this because I am speaking your language, then reach out. I wanna hear from you. I want to help. We can do this.
The first step is to subscribe to my blog and Kelly's Substack, as there will be important updates in the coming weeks about how you can get involved with both Kelly and I that you won’t want to miss.
And in the meantime, I have a book recommendation for you. It's called Sensitive is The New Strong. It's been a great comfort to me, and is a powerful reminder that if we sensitives don't stand up and take our place in leadership, others will.
Yes, the rerun is not enticing! Been there, done that. Thanks for this! And I loved Anita Moorjani's earlier book--excited to check this one out!
Thank you Holly. More of this please!
